THE NRIES-II MULTIREGIONAL MACROECONOMIC MODEL OF THE UNITED-STATES

This article describes the evolution over the last decade of the National-Regional Impact Evaluation System II (NRIES II) macroeconomic model of the United States developed at the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The general structure of a typical model in the NRIES II system is presented, along with more detailed examinations of the state models' components and specifications and the national model. Means of evaluating the model's performance, an application of the model, and some of the strengths and weaknesses of NRIES II are also discussed.
