A MONOCHROMATOR FOR NEUTRON CRYSTALLOGRAPHY IN BIOLOGY

摘要
A monochromator system for neutron crystallography in biology has been developed. Elastically bent silicon (EB-Si, (1 1 1)) was found to enable us to obtain advantageous characteristics such as higher luminosity and less divergence than conventional pyrolytic graphite (PG). When EB-Si was bent to 1.0 m in curvature (R), the intensity increases by 30 times over an unbent one without increasing the rocking-curve divergence of 0.2 degrees FWHM. This EB-Si monochromator system has been used successfully for the diffractometer for neutron crystallography in biology (BIX).
