When it is necessary to provide plastics with antistatic properties, the manufacturer has two choices: Either adding the antistatic agents to the polymeric material or applying them onto its surface. With the usual machinery, the former method is considerably simpler. However, a direct comparison of both methods shows that there are many advantages of applying antistatic agent to the surface of the product. The existing machinery can be modified for this purpose.
