The indications in cardiac pacing evolve in parallel with the emergence of new clinical studies and the improvement in the technology of pacemakers. The acquaintance of the new recommendations of the European Society of Cardiology allows us to improve our clinical practice. The Working Group on the Surgical Arrhythmias and Cardiac Pacing of the Spanish Society of Thoracic-Cardiovascular Surgery has summarized, from a surgical perspective, the current European guidelines, with the aim of spreading this new scientific information.
