The similar features of La casa de Bernarda Alba by Federico Garcia Lorca and La Casa Grande by Alvaro Cepeda Samudio, are the aim of this article, particularly the contrast between rebellion and repression, which is characteristic of both works. It dedicates special attention to the importance of the female characters which embody the rebellion and to the family and social structures that surround them.
