摘要
A high alloy content and new ways of manufacturing brought about high nitrogen steels (HNS) with 0.3 to 3 % of nitrogen. Nitrogen in solid solution is used to improve the corrosion resistance of stainless steels, and stable nitride precipitates enhance the hot strength of hot work tool steels and creep resistant steels. A number of new HNS is used commercially, others are tested in different applications. This holds also true for martensitic or austenitic high nitrogen cases on stainless steels.
