The UK continues to produce a wide variety of government publications, although the gradual change in the structure of government, with the decrease in size of core departments as specialist divisions are given agency status, means publications can be hard to track down as they are published by different bodies with different methods of distribution. The creation of agencies combined with the Open Government initiative, which aims to make the process of government clearer and more accessible to the general public, has resulted in a number of publications which aim to explain the work of departments and describe what the public can expect from them. © 1994.
