Prospects for Expansion of Siliceous Mineral Base in the Border Area of Tyumen and Sverdlovsk Regions

The paper discusses background for expansion of siliceous mineral base in the border area of Tyumen and Sverdlovsk regions, which was not previously considered as promising area. On the basis of summarizing the existing and newly acquired data we can confidently say that in the border area of Tyumen and Sverdlovsk regions opalcristobalite rocks of turtasskian formation are of special interest. A significant amount of redeposited bio-siliceous material (diatomite alga) in near-surface rocks defines a high potential of such rocks for the production of foamglass materials.
