GAUGE AND MATTER SCREENING IN A Z(2) THEORY

摘要：
We analyze a local Z(2) lattice gauge theory which contains both gauge and matter degrees of freedom. In the two-parameter space of this model we identify matter-screening (MS) and gauge-screening (GS) regions. Massive level crossing occurs on the boundary between the two regions. This may indicate a first-order phase transition. For D = 2 space dimensions the model is self dual. For D = 2 the dual description has a higher gauge symmetry allowing for the existence of magnetic vortices. © 1979.
