Concept of Planning: Higher Education Management Information System

Management system is becoming systematic and simpler day by day with the application of computer aided software and internet. In this scenario, Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) around the world are developing Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS). In some countries, it is developing both at institute and national level. In spite of this, some projects could not reach their desired target due to poor project planning. Failure rate of such projects is high particularly in developing countries. This is perhaps the planning of such projects which requires combination of management and IT knowledge and also the knowledge of prevailing education management system of the institution or the country. This article aims to provide concise and key considerations in planning a HEMIS project. Keeping the management issue during implementation and operation phase under eye, planning considerations of HEMIS is depicted in this article. Hopefully, this article will add some additional information to the project planners.
