摘要
The Hydrocarb process to produce methanol and carbon from biomass and fossil fuel can be a promising method for reducing CO2 emissions. If biomass and coal are co-processed, the reaction of CH1.44 O0.66 + 3 CH0.8O0.1 --> 3.04 C + 0.96 CH3OH proceeds and a thermal efficiency of 42% without CO2 emission can be obtained. Co-processing biomass with natural gas yields a thermal efficiency of 175%. Several Hydrocarb processes are evaluated. The co-processing biomass with coal and natural gass at 118% thermal efficiency, while maintaining zero CO2 emissions may be feasible at the CO2 removal costs of higher than $150/t-C.
