摘要
Between February 1985 and June 1989 29 schistosoma patients with stone formation (one female, 28 males) were treated by extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). Of these stone formations, 24 were virgin and five were recurrent with mostly obstructed kidneys but with good kidney excretion according to intravenous urography. The duration of symptoms varied between 2 weeks and 20 years. Of the total number of patients 20 (69%) were cleared of stone formation, seven (24%) did not return to the follow-up clinics and two (7%) did not pass stones, so we were forced to remove the stones surgically and reimplant the ureter in the form of a ureteroneocystostomy.
