摘要
The purpose of this work is to present a historiographical analysis of how key relationships were brewing between the fields of Psychology and Education in Chile. This analysis highlights the role of the State and existent universities, particularly of the Universidad de Chile in the development of this relation. Origins of the relationship between Psychology and Education can be established back in the late nineteenth century. The establishment of relationships between the Pedagogical Institute of Chile and Universidad de Chile centred on topics related to teacher training. These training institutions aimed to train educators to work in public education, responding to the objectives of the State/Nation project at that time. In the 1920's, the establishment of compulsory education imposed the need for new and more information on the student population, allowing the entry and spread of the psychometric perspective. In the mid-twentieth century, the institutionalization of psychology in universities provided the means for the professionalization of the field, beginning a new phase in this relationship.
