ARCHAEOLOGY IN THE VALLES TRANSVERSALES AREA (PROVINCE OF LA PAMPA, ARGENTINA), CHARACTERISTICS AND TRENDS OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL RECORD. SOCIAL IMPLICATIONS IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF LANDSCAPE

Valles Transversales area is located in central-eastern sector of the province of La Pampa. It is a transitional environment between the Humid and Dry Pampa subregions. It has structural features formed by wind valleys that give it its own dynamics from different points of view: physiographic, environmental and cultural. From an archaeological approach, particular characteristics are recorded in the contexts of this area that differ with respect to other areas of the Western Pampa. In this paper the results achieved in the analysis of archaeological materials from different sites are exposed. The analyzed contexts come from both field research and the recording and cataloging of archaeological materials related to reliable and well-known private collections. The aim is to publicize the sites identified and propose some general trends regarding the composition of the contexts, the use of lithic raw materials, the use of space and the social shaping of this landscape.
