Foundations for a Harmonious Society in Paul's Letter to the Ephesians

Paul's letter to the Ephesians provides a comprehensive framework for laying theoretical foundations for a harmonious society. This article first locates an epistemological basis for harmony in the revelation of God given in Scripture, then outlines Paul's understanding of ontology as it relates to social harmony. Finally, the ethical instructions in Ephesians for working out harmony in the family, church, and larger society are briefly described. A few comparisons with Confucius, another major proponent of social harmony, will be made during the course of the article.
