PERIOPERATIVE HORMONAL-THERAPY IN LOCALLY ADVANCED ADENOCARCINOMA OF THE PROSTATE

Perioperative hormonal therapy is a potential therapeutic strategy that combines the advantages of systemic therapy and local surgical control of adenocarcinoma of the prostate. In most cases, the use of hormonal therapy causes a reduction in the size of the prostate, some potential reduction in the volume of the cancer, and varying success in downstaging of the malignancy. No study has shown any benefit in either survival or reduction of recurrences.
