SOME THOUGHTS ABOUT THE RADIOCARBON BUDGET FOR THE GLACIAL ATLANTIC

The goal of this paper is to explore whether the low deep to surface radiocarbon age difference of 600 years reconstructed for the glacial Atlantic requires strong North Atlantic Deep Water production and its consequent large heat delivery to the atmosphere. An estuarine type circulation for the glacial Atlantic is explored as a possible alternative. While such a model can explain the low radiocarbon age difference, it cannot easily explain nutrient distribution re-constructed for glacial time.
