摘要
In this paper, authors present the design and implementation of the "Couple" which provides integrated operational environment with heterogeneous computers. The Couple unifies the command representation of operating systems between workstations and mainframes. Command names and options are translated from workstation form to mainframe form. Names of files that appeared as command arguments are also translated and file management information of files is carried by Couple. For implementing these, Couple consists of two facilities: one is a command interpreter with command translation, the other is Couple Virtual File System (CVFS) as a file naming and management facility. The command interpretation and file naming can be customized by users. Therefore, Couple can be applied with many types of computer and various users can work on heterogeneous computers.
