摘要：
During the last decade of the nineteenth century, State funerals were moments of solemnity to incorporate an emblematic figure in the collective memory. Thus, in february 1897, the death of the distinguished ex-president of the Republic, Dr. Jesus Jimenez Zamora (1863-1866 and 1868-1870) provided an opportunity for a great funeral ceremony with significant conmemorative emphasis. In this mournful act, diverse social sectors participated. Dr. Jesus Jimenez's burial took place in the General Cementery of the city of Cartago.
