An automatic sampler for Curie-point pyrolysis-gas chromatography (GC) to be used in connection with a packed GC column for direct (on-column) introduction of pyrolysates is described. A comparison with the conventional method for pyrolysate introduction with the on-column method is given. Good reproducibility of the results obtained for poly(acrylonitrile-co-1,3-butadiene-co-styrene-co-α-methyl-styrene) and poly(methyl methacrylate) pyrolysis products was observed (relative standard deviation <5%). Examples of other applications are presented. © 1990.
