NATIONAL-ECONOMY DATA ORGANIZATION IN THE SOCIAL ACCOUNTING MATRIX (SAM)

In the article we have stressed the main principles and objectives of social accounting matrices construction. A social accounting matrix, familiarly known as the SAM, has two principal objectives. The first is concerned with the organization of information about the economic structure of a country. Once a data have been organized in the form of SAM, they present a static image. In order to analyze how the economy works and to predict the effects of policy instruments (interventions), we need a model. The principles of SAM construction allows us to construct a country-wide equilibrium model. How it can be done it is shown in this article on the basis of aggregated SAM. The paper does not attempt to examine the problems arising in the construction of SAMs.
