THE ASDALO ARCHIVE. 'LUISA ORRU' ANTHROPOLOGICAL DEMO SOUND ARCHIVE

How was the Auditory Demo-Anthropological Archive 'Luisa Orru' (Asdalo) created, what does it contain and around which themes does it develop? These are the questions that this essay tries to answer, and it also traces how in Orru's work, through prolific cooperations and experiences, the attention to the conservation of sources and to women, to popular medicine, to the biographical method is developed, without forgetting to underscore the importance of her teaching career and of the participation of her students to her research. The content and the organisational procedures of Asdalo are thoroughly presented, subdivided through a typology of material (auditory, paper, transcriptions) and research themes, in addition to a series of descriptive details (language, informants and researchers, location, etc.). This contribution also explores the possibilities of future use of the auditory archive, proposing its return to the communities of origin, online upload and the use in theatrical productions - talking about, as an example, a series of testimonies of obstetricians preserved in the archive.
