Background. In the treatment process of the social accident insurance, different providers are involved. In order to ensure a smooth healing process, the information flow between the interfacesmustwork properly. Objectives. This study seeks to determine the quality of the social accident discharge management and the requirements of accident insurance physicians concerning discharge management. Methods. All accident insurance consultants from North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) were invited by letter and if available - also by email to participate in an online survey. Results. Of the respondents, 19.9% participated in the study. Overall, the respondents were in favor of a timely submission of complete and clear discharge reports. The presence of a single contact person for inquiries within a clinic was endorsed. Conclusions. A discharge report should contain all relevant information concerning a patient, should be structured clearly and presented to the attending physician when the patient presents in his practice for the first time. In addition, a qualified contact person should be available promptly in the discharging hospital.
