摘要
Polymeric metal complexes of poly (5-vinylsalicy lidene semicarbazone) (PVSSc) of general formula [UO2(VSSc-H2]n and [M(VSSc-H)2(H2O)2]n are described. The polymer complexes which are intensely coloured and insoluble in common organic solvents were characterized by elemental analyses, IR, electronic spectroscopic and magnetic moment measurements. IR spectra reveal that the PVSSc homopolymer acts as a singly negatively charged bidentate anion, and two homopolymers coordinate with each metal ion through the hydroxyl group oxygen atom and azomethine group nitrogen atom to from neutral polychelates. The shift in the band positions of the groups involved in coordination has been utilised to estimate the metal-nitrogen bond lengths. The results obtained are in good agreement with the values of metal-nitrogen modes and homopolymer field splitting energy (IUDq). All these polymer complexes show a six-coordinated structure and octahedral stereochemistry.
