Platinum and SnO2 Decorated Graphene Sheets as Ethanol Oxidation Electrocatalyst in Acidic Medium

摘要
Here, we present the ethanol oxidation activity of platinum and SnO2 decorated graphene sheets (Pt/(SnO2)/G). Pt/(SnO2)/G is synthesized by polyol reduction technique and characterized using various characterization techniques such as powder X-ray diffraction, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Transmission Electron Microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Thermogravimetric analysis. Ethanol oxidation activity is evaluated using typical electrochemical techniques such as cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry. The cyclic voltammetry study shows a maximum ethanol oxidation current of 0.34 A mg(-1) in acidic medium. Chronoamperometry study shows the stability of the electrocatalyst towards ethanol oxidation.
