SEDIENE, A NEW ALKALOID ISOLATED FROM SEDUM-ACRE L

The new alkaloid sediene, of empirical formula C13H19O2N, which belongs to the group of sedum alkaloids, has been identified in the extract obtained from Sedum acre L. The structure was determined by means of chemical and spectroscopical methods. The fragmentation pattern in mass spectrometry of sediene has been found to be characteristic of 2,6-disubstituted N-methyl-piperidine derivatives. In the same extract, sedamine and hydroxysedamine were identified by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The obtained extract has an antimicrobial effect on Staphylococcus aureus.
