Solvent dependence of the emission from species consisting of two identical moieties

摘要
The role of the solvent with respect to the energy of the lowest excited state of molecules or complexes. which consist of two identical moieties, is investigated by means of a simple model. It is found that at sufficiently high solvent polarities there exist energy minima corresponding to solvated polar (and, therefore, unsymmetrical) species which are more stable than the non-polar symmetrical ones. These theoretical results can account for some experimental findings presently available.
