摘要
The evolution of synchrotron radiation photoemission at the Wisconsin Synchrotron Radiation Center is reviewed. The first photoemission spectroscopy (PES) measurement as well as the first analysis chamber is described. The discussion goes through the utilization of the polarization properties of synchrotron radiation and the spectral continuum features which lead to the three modes of PES: energy distribution curve, constant final-energy spectroscopy, and constant initial-state-energy spectroscopy. The merging of synchrotron photoemission and angle-resolved photoemission is reviewed. The new development of using photoelectron diffraction data to obtain images of individual atoms is presented. The inversion of the spectra is based on the holographic principle.
