SPECIFIC-HEAT STUDY OF TC REDUCTION BY ZN DOPING IN (LA1-XBAX)2CUO4

Low-temperature specific heat and resistivity of (La0.955Ba0.045)2Cu1-yZnyO4 were measured. The resistivity measurements reveal that the samples with Zn content y greater-than-or-equal-to 0.02 are in the normal state down to 1.3 K. For y greater-than-or-equal-to 0.02, therefore, the T-linear term in the low-temperature specific heat can be interpreted as the electronic specific heat. It is found from the measurements of low-temperature specific heat that the electronic coefficient increases gradually with increasing Zn content y.
