CORRECTION OF DOPPLER BROADENING OF GAMMA-RAY LINES INDUCED BY PARTICLE-EMISSION IN HEAVY-ION-INDUCED FUSION-EVAPORATION REACTIONS

摘要
The effect of the emission of light particles in heavy-ion induced fusion-evaporation reactions on the shape of gamma-ray lines measured with Ge detectors has been investigated. A method to correct the position and the width of the gamma-ray lines, based on the detection of the evaporated particles, has been developed. The method has been applied to the analysis of the data from a heavy-ion experiment, where a beam of 95 MeV S-32 was used to bombard a target of Al-27. The experimental set-up consisted of the NORDBALL gamma-ray multi-detector array, combined with a 4 pi charged particle detector system and a 1 pi neutron detector assembly. Predictions of a Monte Carlo simulation of the uncorrected and corrected gamma-ray lines are presented and compared with the experimental results. The importance of different properties of particle detectors for the correction effectiveness is discussed in view of the simulation results.
