Clinical Geropsychological Consultation-Liaison Service in Long-Time Care Facilities for the Elderly - Reflections from the Carrier's Point of View

Nursing home residents generally suffer from a high prevalence of psychological symptoms and mental disorders. Therefore, a pilot project was developed to improve the mental health services of elderly living in a senior residency home by implementing a clinical geronto-psychological consultation-liaison-service. In this article the background and the concept of this service is described and the results of its outcomes found in an evaluation study are presented. The results are encouraging, so that after a few modifications in its conception and the clarification of the financial basis the service will be transferred into routine mental health care of the residency home.
