SURVEY OF RETRAINING PROGRAMS FOR INACTIVE LABORATORY PROFESSIONALS

A survey of accredited educational programs for medical technologists, medical laboratory technicians (associate degree and certificate level), and specialists in blood bank technology was conducted to identify retraining programs for inactive professionals and the services provided by the programs. Results from the one-time mailing identified 57 retraining programs within 30 states. The survey results indicate that educational programs designed to prepare inactive professionals to reenter the work force are being offered.
