PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHIES IN PARAPROTEINEMIAS

Peripheral neuropathy is a rare neurologic complication of paraproteinaemias. Although much less frequent than spinal cord compression and radiculopathies, peripheral neuropathy can be the presenting and predominant feature in patients with subclinical paraproteinaemia. The pathophysiology of these entities, have been matter of discuss, being considered by some authors as remote effects of carcinomas, and by others, to be caused by some humoral factor produced by the malignancy. We describe the clinical evolution of some patients with paraproteinaemia, and analyze the pathophysiology and electrophysiology.
