It is generally known that setting up a psychiatric-psychosomatic consultation-liaison in general hospitals meets with great difficulties. In order to evaluate the somatic specialists' expectations of, requests from and willingness to cooperate with consultation-liaison psychiatrists, the authors conducted a questionnaire survey at the Innsbruck University Hospitals. The aim was to get hints for improving the cooperation and integrating the psychosomatic approach into somatic medicine. The results and consequences for the consultation psychiatry are discussed.
