PROTON AND ALPHA-RADIOACTIVITY IN THE VICINITY OF SN-100

The decay modes of very neutron deficient nuclei in the neigbourhood of Sn-100 were investigated at the Munich Tandem Accelerator Laboratory. Fusion evaporation residues were produced with Ni-58 beams on Fe-54 and Ni-58 targets, separated from the beam with an electrostatic deflector and implanted into an array of 100 PIN diodes. Their particle decays were correlated in space and time with the preceding residue and with subsequent decays. The decay energies of some of the alpha emitters known in this region were determined more precisely than in previous measurements. Neither the search for the decay of I-108 nor of Cs-112 yielded a new proton line. We conclude that the odd proton in these nuclei is considerably more bound than in the neighbouring proton emitters I-109 and (CS)-C-113.
