摘要：
The chemical composition of twenty tree leaves in and around Calcutta was determined. Results showed that most of the tree leaves contained more than 20% crude protein. Some of the trees like Trema orientalis (18.57% and 11.80%) and Pongamia pinnata (11.37% and 7.34%) were high in total ash and acid insoluble ash. Presence of calcium, phosphorous, iron, sodium, potassium are fairly good in these tree leaves. Polyphenols are high in Peltophorum pterocarpum and Trewia nudifiora. From overall composition it can be concluded that these tree leaves could be used as fodder material for browsing herbivores.
