So close, so far: the challenges of citizen journalism in print media

This article argues the challenges of the journalism citizen practiced for important vehicles, having as focus the section Your District (Seu Bairro), published for the Valeparaibano newspaper, from Sao Jose dos Campos, SP. The sources had been identified that had collaborated with the first year of circulation of the supplement and the nature of the published guidelines. The methodology to this research were quantitative and qualitative aspects and makes use of the technique of the half-structuralized interview. The comments point that the press, even so opens space for the participation citizen, imposes barriers that make it difficult a significant and engaged action on the part of the readers.
