NEW MANUFACTURING TECHNIQUES FOR RAPID PROTOTYPING AND CONCURRENT ENGINEERING

摘要
This paper gives a survey of so-called rapid prototyping techniques. These are new manufacturing processes producing parts by progressive addition of material. The paper shows that those techniques are very suited for concurrent engineering purposes. A real concurrent engineering project is reported at the end. It proves that lead times could be shortened significantly by producing so-called stereolithography prototypes in a very early design stage.
