SEASONAL ABUNDANCE OF APHIDS, RHOPALOSIPHUM SPP AND THEIR PARASITOIDS ON PLANTS OF ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE FROM NORTHEASTERN UTTAR-PRADESH

Rhopalosiphum Koch is a common genus in the target area and found in most of the localities. During the survey, three species of Rhopalosiphum viz., Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch). Rhopoalosiphum padi (Linnaeus), and Rhopalosiphum rufi abdominalis (Sasaki) were recorded on 11 food plants of agricultural, horticultural crops as well as weed plants in different seasons. Among these, only R. maidis was found in abundant number in all localities on 20 food plants and was considered as as a pest in the target area. It was found to be parasitised by three species of parasitoids, Aphidius uzbekistanicus Luzhetzki, Lysiphlebia mirzai Shuja-Uddin and Lysiphlebus delhiensis (Subba Rao and Sharma). The extent of parasitism of L. mirzai and L. delhiensis was very high in most of the localities.
