THROMBOLYTIC THERAPY OF DEEP-VEIN THROMBOSIS

This is an overview of conventional and newly developed methods for fibrinolysis treatment of deep vein thromboses. Laboratory details and clinical results are presented. These include conventional streptokinase and urokinase infusion, long-term infusion of rt-PA, short-term ultrahigh streptokinase and urokinase treatment as well as loco-regional and lysis block techniques. Taking side effects and efficacy into account, the practicability of specific regimens for different thrombosis sites (calf, popliteal, femoral, iliacal veins) are discussed.
