THE EFFECT OF TRIETHYLALUMINUM TREATMENT ON A ZIEGLER-NATTA CATALYST SUPPORTED ON MAGNESIUM-CHLORIDE PREPARED BY A RECRYSTALLIZATION METHOD, FOR PROPYLENE POLYMERIZATION

摘要
MgCl2 as a support for the polymerization catalyst of propylene was prepared by dissolving it in ethanol and by recrystallizing it in n-decane media with vacuum drying. This support was modified by adding ethylbenzoate as an electron-donor, by treating it with triethylaluminium (TEA), and/or by impregnating TiCl4. Those catalysts were characterized by means of XRD, N2 BET method, and SEM. It was found that treatment of supports with TEA aluminium is essential for the improvement of catalytic activity and stereoregularity of polypropylene. Catalyst HETC (TiCl4 impregnated on MgCl2/EB/TEA) showed the highest activity and isotactic index for polypropylene.
