摘要
The screening of the electron-phonon interaction due to a quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) electron gas is investigated. The contribution of the electron-phonon interaction to the ground-state energy of the Q1D polaron gas in different semiconductor quantum-well-wire structures is calculated within the Hartree-Fock and the random-phase approximation. The influences of the width of the quantum-well wire and the electron density on the ground-state energy of the polaron gas are studied. We found that the screening due to the electron gas reduces the effective electron-phonon coupling in a Q1D system appreciably and the contribution of the electron-phonon interaction to the ground-state energy of the polaron gas decreases with increasing electron density.
