Breast Cancer Associated with Type 1 Neurofibromatosis

Background: The association between breast cancer and type 1 neurofibromatosis (NF1) is a rare clinical entity. Case: We herein present the case of a 39-year-old woman with typical clinical manifestations of NF1. She was diagnosed with an 8-cm right breast infiltrating ductal carcinoma. A radical mastectomy and axillary lymph node clearance were performed. The patient underwent the postoperative chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Conclusions: Delayed presentation of the patient was the result of her mistakenly identifying the breast tumor as a manifestation of NF1 neurofibromatosis.
