摘要：

This article offers a preliminary presentation of the unpublished comedy Il Mistero delle Tre Melarancie (The Mystery of the Three Oranges), by the Italian Jewish author David Levi (1816-1898). This play was one of Levi's last works and is of great importance due to its subject matter. It deals with fundamental themes in Levi's Weltanschauung, such as Judaism, modernity, and Saint-Simonism, and reveals his ideas during the last phase of his life. In this essay, I describe its content, delineate its position within the author's literary corpus, and offer a first assessment of its relevance for the study of modern Judaism.
