BREAST-CANCER AND TUMOR-MARKERS

The study was conducted on patients aged 50-70 with K mammary and with histologicreport of carcinoma who had undergone total mastectomy according to Patey technique. A specimen -on an empty stomach- has been taken from such patients before surgery in order to evaluate the course of the new CA 549 tumor marker and compare it with the already known CEA, CA 15-3 and ferritin. As you can see from the graphs, we could recommend the seriate dosage of the following tumor markers: CEA, ferritin, CA 15-3 and CA 549 for patients with a risk of K breast in order to reveal the existence of the metastases before they appear either clinically or through radiological or scintigraphic examination.
