DYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF THE MULTIMODE LASER WITH MODULATED INVERSION

摘要
We have investigated by rigorous simulation the dynamics of the multi-mode laser under the modulation of population inversion with a frequency comparable to the longitudinal mode spacing in the cavity. This system exhibits four or five characteristic stages toward the conventional pulse oscillation, i. e. , the am pulse, the phase incoherent pulse, the intermittent behavior and the final mode-locked coherent pulse. The coherent and incoherent properties of the emitted light at each stage are also clarified.
