A 6.5 GBIT/S TRANSIMPEDANCE PREAMPLIFIER IN SILICON BIPOLAR TECHNOLOGY FOR OPTICAL-FIBER TRANSMISSION LINKS

摘要
A low-noise 6.5-Gbit/s preamplifier was realized in a conventional silicon bipolar 1-mu-m production technology. The transimpedance of 750-OMEGA is the highest value reported for such high operating speeds. it shows a flat characteristic up to the 3-dB cutoff frequency of about 4.8 GHz without needing external equalizing filtering. The equivalent input noise current density, averaged up to 4.8 GHz, is about 11 pA/square-root Hz (8 pA/square-root Hz at 1 GHz).
