News and information in the media discourse

摘要：
This paper brings a conceptual approach in order to define news, information, referenciality and credibility, and makes reflections about its meanings nowadays. The article intents to guide the research "Violence: a discourse the media quiets", which, based on the DHE paradigm, will analyze the newspapers Folha de S. Paulo, Zero Hora and Correio do Povo discourses, based on stereotypes used by the media concerned to violence.
