Rate constants are presented for (VV) energy transfer between (CO)-C-12-O-16(v = 1) and N-15(2) (v = 1) which is near-resonant with an energy mismatch of -108.9 cm-1. Previous studies of this process in the ps phase have been extended to 45 K and measurements have also been made in liquid Ne solution at 25, 33 and 40 K. These are the first energy transfer studies to be undertaken with this solvent. The laser-induced fluorescence technique was used with a frequency-doubled CO2 laser to excite a small proportion of the CO present to the (v = 1) state. Fluorescence from (CO)-C-12-O-16 (v = 1) was monitored and the resultant traces analysed to yield rate constants.
