CHARACTERIZATION OF COAL FLY-ASH BY FTIR, XRD AND SEM

摘要
Different characterization techniques such as Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and Scanning Electron Microscopy have been applied to analyse the different fractions of flyash. FTIR studies show the presence of quartz, alumina, hematite and different mineral matters whereas XRD confirm the presence of these minerals in different fractions of coal flyash. The morphology has been studied by SEM and it is found that it consists largely of solid or hollow spherical particles of variable size with small bulgings of siliceous and aluminous glass with the appearance of cracking at the tip of bulges.
